The Dazzling Hall of Mirrors
Step into the breathtaking Hall of Mirrors, one of the most iconic rooms in the Palace of Versailles. This magnificent gallery, designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart and decorated by Charles Le Brun, served as a grand setting for court receptions and ceremonies during the reign of Louis XIV. Stretching 73 meters long, it features 17 large arched windows overlooking the gardens, mirrored by 17 equally grand arched mirrors on the opposite wall, creating an illusion of infinite space and light. The vaulted ceilings are adorned with paintings depicting the political and military triumphs of France, celebrating the Sun King's glory. Beyond its opulent beauty, the Hall of Mirrors holds immense historical significance, famously being the site where the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919, officially ending World War I.

How do I get to Versailles from Paris?

Alternatively, take Train L from Gare Saint-Lazare to Versailles-Rive Droite (about 35 minutes), then a 15-minute walk. Regular Navigo/Île-de-France Mobilités passes cover the journey.
